Chapter 670B of the Nevada Revised Statutes was created by Assembly Bill 332. It became law on June 14, 2023 and went effective January 1, 2024 – and from what we have been able to discover from FID: some institutions may not realize they are subject to this requirement.
We highly recommend you leverage your legal counsel, whether internal or external, to evaluate your specific scenario to ensure compliance.
If an institution finances tuition for students directly, holds student financing agreements, or services/collects payments on funding used for education: the regulation may trigger additional licensing, reporting, and compliance requirements for that institution. Schools should review whether NRS 670B applies to their institution based on their current operations and use of financial products or services covered by the statute.
